Article: Rule and Reign

If you want to know what things are dearest to my heart, this is it.

The Torah is the first section of the Hebrew Scriptures. It is considered to be the most important of the three sections of the TaNaK, because it contains the purpose and origins of humankind, introduces Yahweh- who claims to be the One and only God, Creator of all things, and opens the story of the relationship between humans and Yahweh.

The word Torah is sometimes translated Law, because it contains the Law of Moses. Some theologians would translate it “Instruction” or “Teaching” because the semantic weight contained in the word “Law” for Western thinkers is different than the way the original readers of the book would have understood the concept of “Torah”.

This section of content is called Torah on this website because it is the first of three and perhaps more important than the other two because it is foundational to them. It contains my most deeply held beliefs, whereas the other sections contain some thoughts and ideas that either stem from my core beliefs, or are not nearly as central.

If you have read this far > Thank you, friend! I will take that as a complement!

Enjoy.
